Fixed Bed vs Convertible Bed
A fixed rear bed is simple and creates a large garage below. A convertible bed can create daytime seating but requires setup and may reduce under-bed storage. Full-time travelers often value convenience differently from weekend users.
Galley Placement
A galley near the sliding door can provide ventilation and outdoor access. A long interior galley may offer more counter space but can narrow the aisle. Check refrigerator-door swing and drawer clearance before finalizing dimensions.
Bathroom Strategy
A permanent shower adds privacy but consumes a large volume. Portable toilets, hidden toilet drawers or outdoor shower systems save space. Choose based on trip style, climate and where you expect to camp.
Workstation Needs
Remote workers should test seat height, table depth, screen position and power access. A beautiful dinette can still be uncomfortable for several hours of computer work.
Storage Should Match the Gear
Design around the actual objects you carry: bikes, skis, surfboards, camera gear, tools, food bins and clothing. Generic cabinets often waste volume because they are not sized to the contents.
Mock Up Before Building
Painter’s tape on the floor and cardboard furniture can reveal aisle problems immediately. Spend an hour living in the mock layout before spending days building it.
